Jogja Trip - A Present for My 29th Birthday

Who doesn't love Jogjakarta. A city with so much leisure and kindness. I spent my high school and college Jogja which makes it a plac I call second home.

Eventho I've lived there for many years, but on last November I visit the city as a tourist. It means, I went there with complete itinerary and during my visit, I stayed in a guesthoust. Big thanks to my friend, who gave me train tickets as a gift for my birthday.

1. I arrived at Lempuyangan Station at noon and I was picked up by my friend. Because I starved to death with empty stomach for about 8 hours...we're heading straight to Local Resto (Local Hotel) which is located near Jembatan Merah.

Bad choice, i do admit. Both the food and the drink are disappointing. The place it self is a new famous place. Not like the other hotel, the restaurant is located separated from the hotel building. It is true that the place has interesting and very cool architecture. It has contemporer design and because the place is not located at main road, so you will not be disturbed by noise. But I will not recommend you to eat there, especially if you're suffering from hunger. The thai tea is so so I couldn't almost taste both the milk and the tea. The bulgogi chicken rice is not seasoning well, I could only finish the half of it. But next time, if I had enough money, I'll probably try the hotel room :D

2. Leaving with a not happy stomach, we decided to check in at ViaVia Guesthouse at Prawirotaman.

My first expression when i first met and welcomed by the staff and looked at the room, is wow....It's gonna be a fun and unique experience. And it was! :)) Eventually, Local Resto was the only wrong choice I've made during my visit in Jogja. The rest of the trip was almost perfect, including hotel choice.

When my friend asked me where I want to stay, I feel like I want to have unique experience because as a journalist in big media, I always have the opportunity to travel a lot and get a first class treatment, including 5 or 4 stars hotels both in local or international work trip. So, staying in a guesthouse on my own (*read: own money), is my first experience and the unique one.

Via Via Guest House is a very recommended affordable hotel to those who seek for budget hotel. The staff is so friendly and helpful. It has open area for breakfast that is surrounded by the bamboo wall. It also has plenty of books that available in public area and in the room.

If you decided to stay there, make sure to order Sulawesi room bcz it's the only room that has outdoor bathroom. Enjoy the sensation of showering under the sky and under....the mango tree :D Overall, it was a good stay, a family ambiance, a good WiFi, even you can easily have a conversation with your room neighbors and turned out that my and my friend are the only Indonesian people there.

3. At night I decided to strolling around Malioboro to find sandals and accessories. We eaten at angkringan there. Now back to hotel and  have a nice sleep.

4. Hello cloudy morning!

We had a bit of time before heading to next destination. As so, we were invited by my very good friend who live with his wife not far away from Ulen Sentalu Museum. It is a nice visit of his house, he even took us on his tour house. What a lovely house! an artsy one. Look at their cute house:

In search of catchy tree to take a photo. Dito delivered us to the park nearby and his wood. Taking photos, done! I want to froze the time.

On the next day, we went to coffeeshop, and of course BEACH:)

Xoxo,

Sha~

Flashback 2018 - Franz Ferdinand, Boyfriend, to Birthday Blash

So many things last year that I've missed blogging and left undocumented. In beginning of 2018, I started a new job in a new office with bigger responsibility, and it brought tons of challenges at first. I also experienced a massive heart broken, but also found a new lover at the same year. He's super sweet. Every Sunday afternoon he came to my place. We did grocery shopping and he cooked for me :). Also in 2018, I attended Asian Games which was held in Indonesia. I watch 2 tournaments: diving and athletic. It was such a fun time! Later in October 2018, I joined office outing to Bali and it was a good trip and perfect bonding time with my team. Last year also become my remarkable year as exactly on my birthday, me and my friend attended Franz Ferdinand concert at GBK, Jakarta. I've long wanted to see their concert as I missed their performance many years ago when they held their first concert in Indonesia. I was genuinely happy because I didn't expect th...

Malasia Trip - Revisit

Not long after I posted my Malaysia trip that was happened on 2017, I get the invitation to go there again by my friend. Here's my journey story:) Day 1. My flight from Jakarta landed at Kuala Lumpur airport after midnight. At first, I was planned to go to the hotel by KLIA train, but because my flight was delayed for 1 hour and it's already very late, my friend offer to pick me up at the airport and we went straight away to our hotel together by Grab.  (At the airport after I landed, I went straight away to Family Mart and found the FRUIT SANDWICH that I've always wanted. Happy~) Day 2.  In the next morning, we're getting ready to depart to Cherating beach, our primary destination. To go to Cherating, we have to take a bus for 4,5 hours. Btw, my friend booked the hotel near the bus station, so we went to the station just by walk. But first, breakfast. Across our hotel, I saw a street vendor which was surrounded by many people so we decided to take a look...

Off to Gili!

Lombok Island has no shortage of charming beaches, and Gili Trawangan is particularly worth seeking out. In October 2019, I visited there for 4 days.                           Our flight was late arrived in Lombok. We stayed in Hotel Orizatha, Mataram  before heading to Gili Trawangan the next day.  =================== Made some quick stop at several spots on our way to Bangsar harbor. We stopped at Pantai Sengigi and Bukit Nipah to find this absolutely gorgeous view.   To reach Gili Trawangan, we went by speed boad and it takes 15 minutes. The ticket fare is IDR 85K for each.            On that day we really didn’t have any plan, so we started walking arond to get a first impression of Gili. And on second day we stayed in Damai Village Hotel which is so-so as I don't like old building or old vibe.  Thankfully on the 3rd...
